There are numerous styling and badging differences between the models, perhaps the most obvious being that the Cooper S has a distinctive scoop cut into the bonnet to provide airflow over the top mounted intercooler. The Cooper S also has twin exhausts which exit under the center of the rear valance. The (non-S) Cooper has more chrome parts than the MINI One and has a single exhaust. The MINI One/D has no visible exhaust pipes at all.

The overall look of the car is firm, taut and muscular. The wheel arches, the shoulder line and powerdome, in turn, are striking and almost spectacular, the air intake on the engine compartment lid and the twin tailpipes both typical of the MINI Cooper S accentuating the car's sporting look. In its design, the MINI Concept Tokyo is a clear statement – the car has character, it looks powerful and elegant all in one, and, through its higher roof, it also accentuates its functional benefits.

Fast-moving fun describes the Cooper S. In addition to sizzling performance, you get tight, quick maneuverability. These little hatchbacks cling to the pavement as if they’re magnetized. Ride quality is less appealing, though the Cooper S actually seems to ride less harshly than a base Cooper with run-flat tires.

The six wheel, four door, six seater stretch MINI Cooper S features the John Cooper Works Tuning Kit and was built by a specialist coach builder in Los Angeles. Fully loaded with all of the toys you would expect to find in a limousine, the MINI XXL comes equipped with a retractable flat screen TV, a DVD player, CD and radio, air conditioning, sunroof, full black leather and a telephone in the rear so that passengers can communicate with the driver. However, the highlight of the MINI XXL is the whirlpool integrated into the rear section of the car. The whirlpool seats two people and is easy to operate. Its detachable roof means that it can be covered when not in use and emptying it is a simple matter of pulling the plug to release the water.

The MINI One D is an interesting proposition. For a start, it’s a diesel powered MINI, something that in the marques’ history of over 52 years has never been produced before. Secondly, the engine is a modified Toyota diesel, based on the d-4d common rail turbo diesel unit used to power their Yaris.

MINI is both the name of a subsidiary of BMW, and a car produced by that subsidiary since 2001. The car is marketed as a "retro" redesign of the original Mini, which was manufactured by the British Motor Corporation and its successors from 1959 to 2000. To distinguish it from its predecessor (the 'classic Mini'), the brand name for the new car is MINI (written in capital letters). It is often called 'The BMW MINI', 'The New MINI', or simply 'MINI'. The MINI is manufactured in Cowley, Oxford, United Kingdom, in what was historically the Morris car plant.
